GA4 purchase checker for Shopify
A purchase can only be checked against the order it belongs to. CommerceTrace reads your Shopify orders and the purchases GA4 recorded, read-only, and matches them by transaction ID, so you see which orders GA4 never received. Start with the free storefront check below, which tests the steps before the purchase.
Without JavaScript, request the same read-only check by email:
- Your store URL
- Confirmation that you manage the store
Opens your mail app with those lines ready.
How the purchase check works
- Install CommerceTrace from the Shopify App Store. It asks only to read orders (
read_orders) and to read Google Analytics (analytics.readonly). - Choose your GA4 property. The audit then looks up each recent Shopify order in GA4 by its transaction ID.
- Each order gets a verdict: confirmed missing, suspected, inconclusive, or expected (test orders on live stores, point-of-sale sales, subscription renewals, orders marked paid by hand). On a development store, test orders are checked like real ones. What the verdicts mean.
It never asks for customer names, emails, phone numbers or addresses, and never changes anything in your store or your GA4 property.
What the free check below adds
The free check needs no install. It opens your store in a browser and shows whether product view, add to cart and checkout start reach Google Analytics. It places no order, so it does not test the purchase; when those earlier steps are missing, the purchase usually is too.
